Get your journal on in a composition book!

I have been so consumed working in a composition book as my new art journal! Fear is such a terrible thing, just by removing the fear of "messing up my good journal" I was able to cut loose in a cheap composition book which are not only fun to decorate but also powerful in leading me to be open, honest and real. I have learned and stretched my creativity by just completely letting go, playing and doodling. I started drawing these funny and whimsical faces and I love them! I have been creating and playing with these faces in my journal and now I am expanding to canvas. My comp book is my journal, sketchbook, diary, scrapbook all rolled into one and really reflects me and my style. I have had so much fun I have created covers for my next few books that are waiting to be filled. There is definitely going to be a whole lot of journaling going on at this camp! There is also a comp journal group on yahoo you can check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CompositionArtJournals and a flickr group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/composition_book_art_journals/ Go for it, get your journal on!

Hi there art journaler, thanks for the comment in my blog recently! I can tell you're having a great time with your journal - love those girls you did! I hope you do more and keep creating!

Hi Sheila, what a fantastic idea!
I love to write and just collect
composition notebooks, never thought of using one for a journal,
and here I've been combing Barnes
and Noble for a journal. Can't
wait to begin my new project.

Your journal is exquisite, the
faces of the woman and the text
completely jump off the pages.
